Keep Your Guests on the Wedding Dance Floor All Night Long.
You said, “I Do”, you put a ring on it, and you’re officially married – now it’s time to party! Every couple wants their wedding guests to have a memorable time on their big night, and some of the most memorable moments happen out on the dance floor. Just picture it: dancing the night away with all your friends and family. Laughing and belting the lyrics to your favorite songs with everyone you love is the best way to ensure your wedding is as memorable as you always dreamed it would be.
A packed dance floor is a sure sign of a killer party, but how do you get your wedding guests to get out on the floor and stay out there all night? Some might suggest a perfect wedding playlist or an outstanding DJ but keep reading to find out the best ways to keep your guests on the dance floor all night long!
Get Your Guests Excited
Selecting the music for your cocktail hour and dinner (prior to the dance party) is almost as important as selecting your actual dance music. The goal with cocktail music should be to get your guests tapping their toes. Dinner music is typically slightly more upbeat when compared to cocktail music and should get your guests even more excited for the dance party. When the time to hit the dance floor comes, your guests will be ready to rock!
Offer Alternative Dancing Shoes
Depending on how formal your wedding attire is, your guests will likely be wearing dress shoes and heels. While we know they can get down in those shoes, their feet will likely already be hurting from wearing them all day. This being said, trying to keep your guests on the dance floor all night long can be tricky. Try offering flip-flops or suggest going barefoot to your guests so they can dance without breaking an ankle or creating a blister.
Ask For Guest Requests
Name a better way to get your guests to dance than to play their favorite songs – we can’t think of one! We all know that when our favorite song comes on, we can’t help but dance and sing to it, so why not ask your guests to provide their favorite song prior to your big day? Then you can give the list of songs to your DJ or band, and they will be sure to get your dance floor rocking. You can even have your guests RSVP to your wedding invitation with their favorite song!
Think About Your Seating Chart
If you have an assigned seating chart, you might want to think about seating the guests that love to dance right by the dance floor. Once they are up and dancing, it might encourage your other, more shy guests to get up and dance as well. If you put all the shy guests near the dance floor, they might feel awkward to be the first ones on the floor, so it’s best to keep those with boogie fever closest to the dance floor.
Create a Do-Not-Play List
It’s important to provide your DJ with a list of your favorite songs that you know you’ll dance to, but it is equally important to think about what songs will do the opposite and turn your guests away from the dance floor. If your guests hate country, you might want to think about putting some of the more popular country songs on a do-not-play list. Or if you can’t stand the macarena, you might want to add that one too!
Set A Good Example
Your guests are there for you. They are there to celebrate your love for your new spouse. If you want your guests to dance the night away, you should set a good example by getting out on the dance floor yourself! If you look shy and unmotivated, they might not be as excited to dance. But if you get out there and dance like there is no tomorrow, they will pick up on your energy and feel more open to dancing as well.
Dance With Every Guest
When you’re out on the floor with all your wedding guests, chances are your guests want to dance with you. If you take the time to dance – even for half of a song – with every one of your guests who are out on the floor it will make their night. You are the center of attention at your wedding, and the best way to make your guests feel loved and appreciated that they are in attendance is to spend some one-on-one time with them getting down to your favorite songs.
Remember: It’s Your Day
All in all, this is your day. If you want to dance, you should! Maybe your guests are just not big partiers or dancers, but this should not stop you from dancing if you really want to. Try to remember that not everyone will dance the whole night, and that is okay! As long as everyone has fun, that is all that really matters. Don’t be afraid to get out there and have the time of your life. It will make for good memories (and maybe some funny stories for your guests to tell).
