Best Wedding Dates for 2023 and 2024

Best-Wedding-Dates

A quick guide to great dates to tie the knot.

Best-Wedding-Dates

The hardest part to kickstarting the wedding planning process is actually choosing a date for the big day.  Once you have done that, you can start almost everything else when it comes to planning.  The thought process behind choosing a date can be as simple as looking at what the venue has open, but many couples like to be intentional about a special date.  We have compiled a list of dates including holidays, fun numbers and even lucky numbers.  We have also included some dates to avoid.

Numbers

Looking at how the numbers line up can give you a one of a kind wedding date.  Here are a few good ones.

  • Friday, February 3, 2023 to give you a 2-3-23 date
  • Saturday, February 4, 2024 to give you a 2-4-24 date

If you like palindrome dates where the date repeats itself forward and backward, here are some.

  • 3-20-2023 (Monday)
  • 3-23-23 (Thursday)
  • 4-20-2024 (Saturday)
  • 4-24-24 (Wednesday)

And if you are a math nerd, here are some dates that equal the years.  Also helpful so husbands do not forget the anniversary date 😉

  • Thursday, 5-18-23 – 5+18 = 23
  • Saturday, 6-17-23 – 6+17 = 23
  • Monday, 12-2-24 – 12 x 2 = 24
  • Thursday, 12-12-24 – 12+12= 24

Holidays

Looking at holidays can be an advantage in multiple ways.  You might already be planning to see your family and therefore you can play host this year.  You also might get an extended weekend for wedding festivities or travel time for your guests.  It also can be a good way to play off a theme and can be a guide for your colors and decor.  It is not wise to choose it on a major holiday or too close to a major holiday because families have traditions and may not want to break them for a wedding, but looking at the time frame can help set the tone.  Here are some great options.

Monday Holidays

  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day

Major Holidays

  • New Year’s Day
  • Valentine’s Day
  • Patrick’s Day
  • Independence Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

Friday the 13th

It is a growing trend that Friday the 13th is good luck.  But if you do not want to chance it, add it to the avoid date list.

  • January 2023
  • October 2023
  • September 2024
  • December 2024

Cool dates to consider

  • First Day of Spring
  • April Fool’s Day

Leap Year

There will be a leap year in 2024, which is seen as bad luck to the Romans and Greeks.  However, it seems like a date to remember so something to consider.

Ides of March

A little history lesson tied with bad luck.  Ever since Julius Caesar’s assassination on March 15 in 44 BC, this day has been known as the Ides of March and is generally considered unlucky.

Choosing a wedding based on a date can be hard, but just remember, every day is a great day to get married because marriage is a good thing and a date will not change that.  Do not stress over the date, but have fun in the process.  Happy wedding planning!
